Life on Mars -- the US version

Comments

Okay... so, Scrubs moving to ABC may be the worst kept industry secret. Ever. I just don’t get to watch that much grown-up television other than what we record. So, the shows? Yes. The shows that talk about the shows? Not so much.

Thanks for keeping me in the loop.
Well, this is the only stuff I feel like writing about these days, so I'm glad someone (other than me) gets something out of it! :)
Ashton Kutcher and Tyra Banks? I think if you combine the 2 of them, they equal one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse. (This from an ardent Top Model fan, so feel free to ignore me....)
Seriously. And this makes two Ashton Kutcher gameshows and one Ashton Kutcher sitcom on the schedule all at the same time. It makes my head want to spin around. There's just something about Tyra Banks that makes me want to slap her.

There's just something about Tyra Banks that makes me want to slap her.

That's because she's a self-serving, condescending, obnoxious beast. I could tolerate her until this "cycle" of top model. She's really revealing her true colors now. She makes me feel pretty slappy too....

Thank you for putting this all together because it's all stuff I really want to know but am too lazy to discover on my own.

Also, I'll slap Tyra, too.
If you like this, just wait till Friday or Saturday when I put together the entire new fall lineup -- channels, times, days, etc. (This is what happens when you have no life.)
JOY JOY JOY
I dislike Lost being on at 10pm. I still watch it of course (I mean really, how can I not), but it's too late for my wee little eyes on Friday morning. lol (it's pretty much the only show I watch religiously)

Maybe the fact Kelley has handed Life on Mars to other producers for the series (post-pilot) is a sign that it will have a steady growth there in the US. One viewer who was part of a test audience said it was pretty dramatic.
That makes me a bit more optimistic. I've heard some good things, and I'm hoping it does well. I'm still deciding whether or not to finish the entire BBC version or wait and see how the US version shakes out...

Very hard decision there, Jen. I have seen the entire BBC series, including the finalé when you find out what happens to Sam. I’ve also seen the first season of the sequel series, Ashes to Ashes, which kind of puts all that into disarray.
It won’t stop me from seeing the US version but I wonder if it will spoil my enjoyment. By the looks of the trailer, it’s pretty obvious the plot with Raimes kidnapping girls, including Sam’s girlfriend Maya, will be retained in the pilot.
If you can get your hands on Ashes (DVD of season one out now in the UK), then it may be worth finishing up the British one because the new series kicks up extra questions, especially the eighth episode. Plus the American producers say that they will follow a different mythology to the Brits.
If you don’t plan on getting Ashes to Ashes, then I would wait till the US one starts before finishing the second season of the British series. (Note with the BBC version: the seventh and eighth episodes of the second season ideally should be watched together.)
